Course Memo

This course presents a comprehensive overview of the Occupational Therapy profession, various settings, medical conditions, and populations with which COTA’s work. Topics include the history and philosophy of Occupational Therapy, the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework: Domain and Process, and models of practice and frames of reference. Additionally, role delineation of the OTR and COTA professional organizations, and requirements for credentialing and licensure under state laws will be covered. The roles of the multidisciplinary team are introduced as well as basic legal and ethical principles. The course explores the delivery of holistic intervention and evidence-based practice. Credit: 2 hours.
