Pharmacology for Imaging Professionals (MIS302)

Course Memo

This course will provide a better understanding of the concept of pharmacology and how it relates to the imaging sciences. The principles of pharmacology, as well as the role of the imaging professional, will aid the student to learn and understand pharmacologic terminology, classifications, and the unique make-up of imaging contrast media. The chemistry and general makeup of commonly encountered medications and emergency medications will be discussed along with interactions. Contemporary issues surrounding healthcare literacy also will be discussed. Other topics will include routes of drug administration, infection control, and IV procedures. Pre-requisite: Admission to the program. Credit: 3 hours. This course is offered in an online format.
